ESD 123 is an approved provider for Washington State’s Continuing Education Clock Hours Program. We provide assistance to the educational community by providing clock hours for professional development. We offer clock hours for both individuals who are seeking to earn clock hours and for in-service education program providers wanting to offer clock hours for district, regional and state workshops and conferences.
Clock hours benefit teachers, educational staff associates, career technical educators, and administrators who hold a continuing or professional level of certification and have the 150 clock hour requirement. Educators who need the Issues of Abuse class requirement to advance to the second level of certification and educators who want to advance on the salary schedule also benefit from clock hours.
The endorsed continuing certificate enables educators to teach in endorsed subject areas and is valid for five-year periods. To maintain the validity of the continuing certificate, 150 approved clock hours of continuing education study and/or equivalent academic credit (15 quarter hours or 10 semester hours) must be completed every five years or in lieu of clock hours. Educators may present a copy of a valid certificate from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS).
