From Hope to Resilience

Washington State University Extension’s Area Health Education Center (AHEC) is offering an intensive 2-day training on complex trauma and social emotional learning to improve academic success, on April 7 & 8 at Red Lion Hotel at the Park in Spokane. The conference will provide intermediate level training to school and community professionals who have introductory knowledge of complex trauma and social emotional learning as organizing principles for school improvement, and alt

attendance in school teams is encouraged. The focus of the conference agenda is Elementary and Middle School personnel. Pre-School and High School staff are welcome and encouraged to participate.

The Washington State Holocaust Education Resource Center is offering two upcoming programs for teachers, and a writing and art contest for students. Workshops like these are crucial to helping teachers effectively teach about this sensitive and critically important subject. It is through the study of the Holocaust and genocide that we learn about decision making, individual/social responsibility, the dangers of discrimination and prejudice, and the difference just one person can make.
