Parents and guardians are invited to join the ESD 123 ECEAP Policy Council!
Empowering Families, Shaping Futures

At ESD 123, we believe parents are the experts on their children’s needs. The Policy Council is more than just a series of meetings, it is a powerful partnership between families and ECEAP program leadership. By joining, you help ensure the parent voice is the driving force behind the decisions that affect our children and our community.

Why Your Voice Matters

The Policy Council acts as an important bridge between local families and program administration. We are looking for partners to help us:

  • Inform Meaningful Change: Provide direct input on program design, recruitment strategies, and how we serve our families.
  • Guide Program Leadership: Review personnel procedures and provide a "family-first" perspective on program staffing.
  • Shape the Budget: Collaborate on financial priorities to ensure resources go where they are needed most.
  • Build Community: Plan and lead activities that build relationships between ECEAP families across the region.
  • Evaluate Success: Participate in annual self-assessments to ensure we are meeting our goals for every child.

Who Can Serve

  • Current ECEAP Families: Parents and guardians of children currently enrolled at any ESD 123 ECEAP site are encouraged to get involved with our Policy Council.
  • Community Champions: Local advocates for early learning (voted in by current ECEAP parents) may also take part in the Policy Council.

To ensure a variety of voices are heard over time, parent/family membership is limited to a total of five years.

What to Expect: A Collaborative Environment

We value your time and aim to make our meetings accessible and welcoming.
  • Convenient Access: Meetings are held via a hybrid of in-person (with meetings rotating across the region) and Zoom, making it easy to join from home or in-person as able.
  • Preparedness: You’ll receive agendas and materials ahead of time, covering topics like kindergarten transitions, learning through play, and program updates.
  • Safe Space for Ideas: Whether you want to lead the conversation or simply listen and learn, your presence is valued. We encourage you to share what is working well at your site and where we can improve.
  • Networking: Connect with other parents who share your commitment to our children’s education.
