Career Connected Learning

Career Awareness and Exploration

Provide resources and events to districts that create early exposure to new jobs and industries. Examples include job fairs, guest speakers, job shadows, job-site tours, and other experiences. The Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), awarded grants to Washington's educational service districts (ESDs) to support current legislation for career awareness, exploration, and preparation.

Career Connected Learning objectives:

  • All students prepared for post-secondary pathways, careers, and civic engagement
  • Every young adult in Washington will have multiple pathways toward economic self-sufficiency and fulfillment, strengthened by a comprehensive state-wide system for Career Connected Learning
  • Students should be supported to utilize their High School ad Beyond Plan to build a graduation pathway based on student interests
  • Every pathway to graduation and post-secondary success should be valued equally
  • Outcomes and processes must be measured, reported, and realigned to determine progress toward goals, and impact for those served
  • Enable all of Washington’s young adults to experience Career Connected Learning and increase post-secondary credential attainment.
