Lead ECEAP Preschool Teacher, Linda Johnson, is being celebrated as this year’s Regional Teacher of the Year.  Educational Service District 123 is pleased to announce Mrs. Johnson from Richland School District’s Early Learning Center as the winner who will go on to represent our region in the statewide Teacher of the Year competition.

Over the last 20 years, Mrs. Johnson has served Richland’s youngest learners, teaching in preschool, kindergarten, and first grades. In addition to her recognition as a Regional Teacher of the Year recipient, Mrs. Johnson also received recognition as a 2021 Crystal Apple Award winner in March.

Linda JohnsonAn early learning professional and teacher leader, Mrs. Johnson’s warmth and kindness are consistently noted. She is relied upon as a critical first link for many families between early childhood and the larger K-12 school system. She is known as a strong advocate and spokesperson for early learning across southeast Washington.

“Linda's leadership in our building is unmatched,” one nomination letter reads. “From mentoring new teachers, leading curriculum scope and sequence work, to being a part of multiple committees in the building. Linda is always looking for new opportunities to make our program better and to share her expertise with others.”

As a regional Teacher of the Year recipient, Mrs. Johnson will compete against finalists from Washington’s eight other ESDs in hopes of being named the 2022 State Teacher of the Year.  The Washington Teacher of the Year program is organized by the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).
