On January 17, the Early Learning Department kicked off a two-day training focused on the Washington Pyramid Model, which emphasizes equitable and inclusive practices in early learning. This training was developed in response to the increasing number of students in transitional kindergarten and kindergarten exhibiting behavior challenges.

The first day of the training centered on building strong relationships and creating supportive environments for all students. A total of 92 early learning educators participated, collaborating to create posters that applied their new insights to real-world classroom scenarios. The second day of the training will take place on February 21, focusing on social-emotional teaching strategies.

Due to high demand, additional sessions will be held on Saturday, March 29 and Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both days. Participants will earn 12 clock hours upon completion. Registration is $50 and is encouraged for early learning professionals including those in childcare, preschool, transitional kindergarten, and kindergarten to attend. Click here to sign up
