The Gjerde Center Atrium at Columbia Basin College is filled with more than 280 pieces of artwork created by high school students representing 17 schools across nine districts. ESD 123 proudly announces the opening of the 50th Annual Regional High School Art Exhibit, on display to the public now through February 17 at the CBC Gjerde Center in Pasco.
The 2023 exhibit includes artwork from Columbia (Burbank), Dayton, Finley, Kennewick, Kiona-Benton City, Pasco, Richland, and Walla Walla School Districts. The High School Exhibit is a juried show, and this year’s competition will recognize 15 Judges Choice winners, 10 Honorable Mention, and 10 Superintendent’s Choice awards. Additionally, Central Washington University (CWU) will award roughly $14,000 in scholarships to selected students.
Students will receive their awards during the public ceremony on Wednesday, February 15 at 6:00 PM in the CBC Gjerde Center. Judge’s Choice winners from ESD 123’s show will advance on to the State Superintendent’s Art Show hosted by the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) in Olympia this spring.
The public is encouraged to visit CBC to view the student artwork between 7AM-6PM Monday-Thursday, and 7AM-Noon on Fridays. For additional information about the exhibit, contact Molly Curtiss at 509-544-5787 or [email protected]
