Supporting our Immigrant, Refugee, and Undocumented Students & Families

Regardless of local, regional, or national circumstances, we want to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to providing equitable, high-quality education for every student, regardless of their race, national origin, citizenship, or immigration status. This is not just a legal obligation—it is a moral responsibility and a promise we make to our students, families, communities and staff members.

ESD 123 remains steadfast in its dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where all students, families, partners and staff feel safe and valued. Our mission is to ensure equitable access to education while upholding the rights and dignity of every individual in our agency. Recent guidance from the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) reinforces these commitments, including:

  • Prohibiting discrimination based on race, color, national origin, citizenship, or immigration status.
  • Protecting student information and not initiating engagement with federal immigration authorities.
  • Ensuring equal access to programs and services for all students.

We also recognize that many families, staff, and students may feel uncertainty or fear about the future. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that our agency remains a safe, inclusive, and supportive space where all individuals are valued and respected. To support this effort, we are committed to:

  • Providing resources and guidance to staff and school districts.
  • Keeping you informed of any updates to policies or laws that may impact our students and families.
