Pre-Employment Transition Services

Educational Service District 123 (ESD 123) is committed to supporting pre-employment transition services for students with disabilities, leading to successful post-school outcomes in education and training, competitive employment, independent living, and participation in the community. The general focus of ESD 123’s Pre-Employment Transition Services program is to provide support and resources to address the unique needs of our region and to develop pre-employment transition services aligned to and grounded in transition research.

In this new program, ESD 123 will provide targeted services to youth ages 16-21 with disabilities in the areas of:

  1. Post-secondary education exploration;

  2. Job exploration;

  3. Workplace readiness training;

  4. Instruction in self-advocacy, and;

  5. Work-based learning experiences.

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) ensures that students and youth with disabilities have meaningful opportunities to receive the vocational rehabilitation services they need in order to achieve competitive integrated employment.
