School Health

ESD 123 offers an integrated program using professional Registered Nurses to enhance student success by reducing health barriers that interfere with learning. Our nurses are healthcare professionals in the unique position of bridging academic and health care systems in an effort to provide continuity of care. Assisting schools, communities, and parents in supporting a healthy school and engaging learning environment, they work to support developing students’ independence in managing their health.

Utilizing a process from assessment through evaluation to address the whole person, school nurses improve student success by utilizing a public health perspective (includes all students, staff, and the environment) that provides culturally competent care within the school community to create a healthy teaching and learning climate.

School Nurses practice in compliance with federal and state laws and within professional standards defined by state and national school nurse and school health organizations.
