Investment Options

  • Traditional or Roth 403(b) Tax-Sheltered Annuity (TSA) 
    • NEW to ESD 123 employees, Roth 403(b) contributions are made on an after-tax basis, and are ideal for employees expecting to be in a higher tax bracket in retirement. Whereas with a traditional 403(b) account, a participant’s gross salary is reduced by the amount of the pre-tax contributions and earnings are taxed upon withdrawal, contributions to a Roth account are subject to taxes before they go into the plan and participants will not pay taxes on contributions and earnings when they make a qualified withdrawal.
    • Available through PlanMember.
  • 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan (DCP)
    • Unlike with a traditional savings account, contributions to a DCP savings program are tax-deferred. This means a DCP lowers your taxable income while you’re working and delays payments of income taxes on your investments until they’re withdrawn. Learn more about DCPs with this DRS video.
