Last month, the Washington Migrant Education Program (MEP) recognized the outstanding achievements of migrant students and staff across our state. Included in this recognition are two incredible youth from the ESD 123 region:  Leonardo Castañeda (age 19 from Burbank) and Yuliya Stepanov (age 19 from Pasco). Both Leonardo and Yuliya received $1,000 scholarships from Sea Mar, which recognizes and acknowledges the barriers children of farm-working families face in their pursuit of a post-secondary degree.

Read the inspiring stories of Leo and Yuliya on pages 17 and 19 of the MEP publication Stronger Together.”  To learn more about ESD 123’s Migrant Education Program and the ways our incredible staff are continuing to provide academic and other supports to migratory children, visit www.esd123.org/programs__services/migrant_education.
