McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaison
The purpose of the McKinney-Vento Act is to provide educational services to homeless students who are equal to all other enrolled students, and ensure that homeless children and youth have equal opportunities to enroll in, attend, and be successful in school. The ESD 123 Homeless Liaison provides:
- School districts and communities information on the educational rights of homeless students and families;
- Participation in Coalitions that work on reducing issues of homelessness;
- Resource contacts for homeless students and their families;
- Linkage with Prevention/Intervention Specialist for emotional support while in school;
- Technical assistance to school districts;
- Support to newly named Title X Liaisons as they implement the requirements of the McKinney-Vento reauthorizatio in their local school districts ;
- Assist districts in developing inter-district transportation agreements.
