BEYOND THE BASICS:
Advanced Critical Incident Stress Management Training
Safety and psychological first-aid does not just magically happen after traumatic events. Schools and teams need to prepare ahead of time. How confident and effective will you be if you use a last minute, “fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants approach”?

When traumatic events happen you may be asked to support students, staff, and parents. Caring and wanting to help is not enough. If you call 911, you expect a call-taker to know what to do to help. It is the same for your school and your crisis response or recovery team. Are you prepared and ready to respond? That’s your responsibility!

What would help me be better prepared to respond and provide support?
What are the challenges of being on a response or recovery team?
How do we involve community emergency responders and resources?
Can I recite the CISD Model without my notes?
Why is “diagramming the incident” important and can I do it?
What is meant by “incident-specific stress response; how do I use it?
What’s the difference between a classroom presentation and a debriefing?
Can I do a full-staff CISD if asked or do I prefer to support kids?
What are the challenges of doing a full-staff CISD?
What would help our response or recovery team to be more prepared?

BEYOND THE BASICS: Advanced CISD increases your readiness to respond after traumatic events. It includes a short review of key information from the Basic CISM training, practice and discussion on managing challenges you have encountered to improve your confidence and skills in providing psychological first-aid
.

** Prerequisite
-working knowledge and application of CISD. Review previous CISD materials and your learning goals.
