TL21 Grant Available for Districts

Educators in eligible school districts are encouraged to apply for grant funds to participate in the Teaching & Learning in the 21st Century (TL21) Program, which is funded by the Title II, Part D: Enhancing Education Through Technology (EETT) Program.

Successful grant recipients will receive $7,600 in 2010-11, which pays for professional development, travel, substitute teacher costs, and equipment and software. Pending the availability of federal funding, in 2011-12 they will receive an additional $3,500.

OSPI Title I LAP Spring Training 2010

ESD 123 is pleased to be hosting the OSPI Title I LAP 2010 Spring Training on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 in the Blue Mountain Room from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
This training is designed for business managers and Title I/LAP federal program directors. It will focus on federal program requirements, new guidance, including new iGrant form packages for the Title I, Part A and Learning Assistance Program, and areas identified during audit and monitoring. There will be opportunity for questions from district staff. Clock hours and CPE credit will be provided for attendees.

Registration will begin at 8:30 AM with the training from 9:00 to 3:30. The location is the Blue Mountain Room at ESD 123, 3918 West Court Street, Pasco, WA. Specific agenda items include:
·         Administrative requirements for Department of Education grants (34 CFR 80)
·         Obligation of funds and carryover
·         Ranking of buildings and allocating if Title I, Part A funds to schools
·         Set aside requirements, including supplemental educational services and transportation for public school choice
·         Changes to iGrant applications and reports
·         Learning Assistance Program (LAP) changes
·         Audit and monitoring results
·         Other items
Training materials will be posted approximately two weeks prior to the training. OSPI will notify ESDs so that they can notify you when the materials are available. Please make copies and bring them with you. We are unable to provide printed materials at the training session.

Washington State University Extension’s Area Health Education Center (AHEC) is offering an intensive 2-day training on complex trauma and social emotional learning to improve academic success, on April 7 & 8 at Red Lion Hotel at the Park in Spokane. The conference will provide intermediate level training to school and community professionals who have introductory knowledge of complex trauma and social emotional learning as organizing principles for school improvement, and altattendance in school teams is encouraged. The focus of the conference agenda is Elementary and Middle School personnel. Pre-School and High School staff are welcome and encouraged to participate.
