Learn how to identify and respond to the signs and symptoms of depression in yourself and the youth in your life at a free Signs of Suicide® Prevention Program training at the Kadlec Healthplex. This is a 90-minute, award winning, evidence-based suicide prevention program designed to educate parents and community members in order to decrease suicide and attempts, encourage help-seeking, and reduce stigma of mental illness. The program teaches safe messaging using the ACT acronym:

  • Acknowledge that there may be an issue
  • Let your friend or child know that you Care
  • Tell a trusted adult or professional

The evening will begin with a keynote by Kimberly Starr, author of 457 Days: A Mother’s Journey Along Grief’s Path, followed by a presentation and discussion led by Kristi Haynes, ESD 123 Student Support Services Trainer/Consultant, who has 10 years of experience in suicide prevention education.

Classes will be held on Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30 PM at the Kadlec Healthplex on 1268 Lee Boulevard in Richland. You can choose from the following available dates:
