Juvenile Justice Center

The WWJJC and the Pathways Back Program is a partnership between Walla Walla County, Walla Walla Public Schools and ESD 123 to provide a short-term transitional educational setting for middle and high school youth. Operated by a certified teacher, ESD 123 provides supervision of the educational program at this seven day a week, twenty-four hour a day detention center for court sentenced youth.

To be eligible for admission into Pathways Back, youth must have been (a) suspended or expelled from school; or (b) recently released from the WWCJJC detention facility; or local treatment facility; or (c) a chronic truant from school, and ordered by the court to attend school because of the at-risk youth petition process. A certified teacher works with small groups of students to build social and academic skills and to assist students in developing habits that will enable them to earn a GED and be successful in future educational placements.
