The April 23rd Opening Reception for the first annual Regional Middle School Art Exhibit saw a packed house at Educational Service District 123! Roughly 130 middle school students, family members, teachers and administrators turned out to celebrate the inaugural opening of the first exhibit of its kind in the ESD 123 region. The Middle School Art Exhibit opened on April 18 and features 94 pieces of art submitted by 81 middle school students representing eight public and private schools across Southeast Washington.

From 5:30-6:30 PM on Tuesday, April 23, students and community members arrived at the ESD 123 building in Pasco for the opening art reception. This year’s display includes student art from the following schools:

  • Columbia Middle School (Burbank)
  • Chinook Middle School (Kennewick)
  • Christ the King Catholic School (Richland)
  • Kiona-Benton City Middle School
  • Enterprise Middle School (Richland)
  • Leona Libby Middle School (Richland)
  • Pioneer Middle School (Walla Walla)
  • Garrison Middle School (Walla Walla)

During the catered event sponsored by STCU (local credit union), participating students were presented with certificates by their art teachers. Additionally, eight lucky students in attendance received art supply gift baskets or $25 Mastercard gift cards sponsored by STCU during a raffle at the close of the reception.

Enterprise Middle School Art Teacher Kim Hobbick expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to showcase student artwork at the middle level.

“We had an amazing time at the art show last night,” says Ms. Hobbick. “We want to thank the ESD for the great job they did putting on this show. My students felt so special!”

The art will be on display at the ESD 123 building in Pasco until May 22 and is open to the public.  Dates for next year’s exhibit are anticipated for April 17-May 22, 2020.  To learn more about the rotating art exhibit and programs at ESD 123, please contact Molly Curtiss, ESD Director of Communications, at 509.544.5787 or
