ESD 123 Has Great Benefits

Benefit-eligibility requirements are as follows:
Hourly and Salaried employees (full time): Benefit-eligible on the first of the month after date of hire.
Hourly employees (part time): Benefit-eligible on the first of the month after date of hire, if working at least 20 hours a week in other than a temporary status.
Health Care
Full-time benefit-eligible ESD employees may choose from a menu of different health care options: managed care plans, in-network managed-care plans, or a Preferred Provider Organization plan.
Dental Care
Full-time benefit-eligible ESD employees may choose from two different dental
plans. A managed care dental plan or a preferred provider dental plan that allows more freedom of choice.
Prescriptions
Full-time benefit-eligible ESD employees may choose from both retail and mail order programs.
Vision Program
For benefit-eligible employees and covered dependents, the program pays for one exam every two years with a $10 copay. The plan plays a maximum of $50 toward any hardware one every two years.
Retirement Plans
The State of Washington provides secure, quality retirement plans for more than 428,000 current, past and retired employees.
Dependent Care Reimbursement Account
All employees whose families qualify can take advantage of tax savings by enrolling in the dependent care reimbursement plan.
Deferred Compensation
All employees are offered the opportunity to take advantage of tax savings by enrolling in the State of Washington Derferred Compensation Program.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
This confidential program, which is provided at no cost from the first day of employment, extends to employees and their families the confidential services of professional counselors.
Long Term Disability
The Basic Plan provides a benefit of 60 percent of the first $400 of predisability earnings, reduced by any deductible income. Employees also may elect to purchase supplemental coverage.
Life Insurance
Generous basic life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment policies are provided at no cost for benefit-eligible employees. Benefit amount is $25,000 whether employee is full or part time. Employees also may elect to purchase supplemental coverage for themselves, their spouses or children.
VEBA I Plan
The VEBA I Plan is a pre-retirement and post-retirement health reimbursement plan funded with your tax-free monthly contributions. The ESD is able to make tax-free deposits on your behalf to the Plan, for your account to be credited with tax-free investment earnings, and to enable you to obtain tax-free reimbursements for your medical expenses and insurance premium payments. It is a convenient and easy way to save for the future.
Health Care Reimbursement Account
Benefit-eligible employees can arrange to have pre-tax money automatically deducted from their paychecks and placed into a health care reimbursement account. Being able to pay medical and dental bills, including co-pays and deductibles, with pre-tax money can save you money each year. |
